AVARUS™ IV
AVARUS™ IV CHG Protective Foam Disc is a hydrophilic polyurethane, absorptive foam with chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), which absorbs up to eight times its own weight in fluid. The CHG present in the dressing inhibits or kills microorganisms on the surface of the dressing.
AVARUS™ IV is intended for use as a hydrophilic foam patch to absorb exudate and cover the peri-wound area of a wound caused by using vascular and non-vascular percutaneous medical devices such as:
IV catheters, central venous lines, arterial catheters, dialysis catheters, midline catheters, drains, chest tubes, externally placed orthopaedic pins, and epidural catheters.
AVARUS™ IV is a range of Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) Protective foam discs Intended to reduce local infections, catheter related bloodstream infections (CRBSI), and skin colonization of microorganisms commonly related to CRBSI, in patients with central venous or arterial catheters.
AVARUS™ IV Is constructed from polyurethane foam allowing quick absorption of fluid decreasing the likelihood of skin maceration and is designed to deliver chlorhexidine gluconate a full 360° around the catheter insertion site providing optimized coverage and protection
AVARUS™ IV Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) impregnated Foam Disc is compliant with INS, CDC, SHAIDA guidelines for the use of CHG in helping to minimise the risk of Catheter Related Blood Stream Infections (CRBSI).
7 Day All Round Site Protection
AVARUS™ IV is highly absorbent and maintains intimate contact with the peri-site skin.
AVARUS™ IV is available in three sizes making it suitable for central venous catheters (CVCs), pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) catheters, temporary haemodialysis catheters, peripherally inserted central catheters and implanted ports.
In vitro antibacterial data has shown that AVARUS™ IV reduces or inhibits microbial colonisation in the dressing. In vitro, AVARUS™ IV has demonstrated a Log 4 reduction and has been shown to kill a wide spectrum of organisms over a 7 day period
