Celox sponsored race driver leads pack into next round of the 2018 armed forces challenge

Mark Inman former Royal Marine racer with Celox rapid support claims victory in the third class-B event of the 2018 armed forces race challenge at Rockingham Motor Speedway

Former royal marine Mark Inman has raced to victory in the third class-B event of the 2018 armed forces race challenge at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Northamptonshire. Inman will proceed to the fourth event, taking place at Donington Park in September, in his Celox sponsored vehicle by Medtrade Products.

Having won the two first round races at Oulton Park and coming second at the previous Silverstone races, Inman was on good form going into the Rockingham event. Inman lead the first race of the weekend with a similar time difference and outpaced his competitors in the second race, which was stopped after seven laps due to a failure with another racer’s vehicle.

“These races are always a lot of fun and help to bring together personnel and veterans from across the board, but there are real risks involved,” explained Inman. “With the speeds we’re travelling at, it’s not uncommon for vehicles to begin failing.”
“In my first race today, the high g-forces exerted on the car caused the fuel in the tank to slosh back and forth. The inertia caused by high speed braking and acceleration into and out of corners can starve the engine of fuel and put it at risk of cutting out or lead to catastrophic failure. Luckily, I only experienced a temporary loss of power and was able to maintain my lead to win the race.”

One of the Meditech Global’s Ambulance teams stationed trackside at Rockingham that are prepared with Celox Rapid.

Fortunately, due to the nature of the sport, emergency services staff from Meditech Global were positioned around the course in the event of an accident. The trackside medical team was sponsored by Celox, the company also sponsoring Inman’s vehicle, and was equipped with several Celox emergency haemorrhage control products.

Time is critical when treating severe injuries in the field and saving time increases the chance of survival. Stopping life-threatening bleeding is recognised as the most urgent need for emergency service personnel, whether that is in a civilian or hostile military setting.

Celox Rapid Gauze can drastically reduce the time taken to treat a life-threatening bleeding wound, using only 60 seconds’ compression*. This saves over two minutes of treatment time compared to other haemostatic gauzes* — a considerable advantage as there may also be multiple patients to assess and treat at one incident, adding to the urgency.

Celox has a long history of supporting the forces, both in the field and at events such as the race challenge. In early 2018, the company’s Celox Rapid product was nominated product of choice by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

“Much like Celox is the fastest bleeding control system, I want to be the fastest on the track. Whilst I’m quite fortunate in that I’ve not personally had to use a Celox product,” explains Inman. “I know many people who have that cannot praise the product enough.”

The armed forces race challenge takes place every year to help veterans and service personnel build a thriving motor racing community across the UK. The challenge sees personnel from the navy, marines, royal air force and army take part in four sets of weekend races. These forces are split into three groups with the navy and marines forming a joint team and veterans grouped separately.

Inman will be returning in his Celox branded vehicle in the final weekend event of the armed forces racing challenge at Donington Park on September 1, 2018.
